Tom Hiddleston and the cast reveal what makes their spy thriller different than your average Bond.

Ever since The Night Manager—a six-part TV series based on the John le Carré novel of the same name—debuted to sky-high ratings in the U.K. there’s been one comparison on everyone’s mind. Could Jonathan Pine, the suave, suit-wearing, martini-ordering spy, be Tom Hiddleston’s audition to play James Bond?

“It’s a very flattering comparison and I completely understand it,” Hiddleston admits in a phone call. “The Night Manager is a spy thriller and Jonathan Pine, through the course of it, becomes a British spy, and the most iconic British spy in popular culture has a name, and his name is James Bond.”

But the truth is The Night Manager, which debuts stateside Tuesday night on AMC, does Bond one better and delivers, over the course of several hours, an updated espionage thriller that comes in from the Cold War in a way 007 still hasn’t managed to.

Hiddleston is joined on his multi-continent spy frolic by Hugh Laurie as the charming-yet-chilling billionaire Richard Roper, Olivia Colman as Pine’s determined handler, Angela Burr, and Elizabeth Debicki as Roper’s bruised and glamorous wife, Jed. Pine goes undercover in Roper’s organization in the hopes of exposing the world-famous philanthropist for the corrupt, warmongering profiteer he is. As Pine sinks deeper, his ties to Burr, Whitehall, and Washington, D.C., begin to muddy with his growing fascination with Roper’s wife.

All six episodes, directed by Susanne Bier (Brothers, After the Wedding),reportedly boast the biggest budget for a drama in BBC history—a mighty £3 million (that’s approximately $4 million) per episode—and follow Pine from the dusty streets of Cairo, to the snowy peaks of Switzerland, to the sun-drenched shores of Mallorca, Spain. In that way Bond and The Night Manager are very similar: every location, glamorous costume, and well-coiffed member of the privileged class looks impeccable.

In the days before Clarence Thomas Supreme Court confirmation hearing in 1991, he was known primarily as a black conservative who did not support affirmative action. Its legal and effective otherwise docket gave a few leftovers was also known, and was indeed the whole point: The country has recently embarked on an era in which judicial candidates (and their sponsors) were terrified of a term new kind - a verb in common usage took the past participle, "borked." The term today involves a fierce campaign to discredit a candidate before and during the confirmation process, but more particularly - as in the case of Robert Bork, whose nomination convicted created the term - which implied that the candidate had been too loose lips expressing their thoughts on the Constitution. Those like confident and articulate in their opinions as Bork has been, so it was considered, as it could have been delivering, sharp pointed sticks his opponents. (It could also be argued that Bork, for all his controversial legal theories, was prepared as soon as David Letterman said it looked like Victor Buono, the portly actor, with a goatee who had played King Tut in the old Batman TV series. but the word "Daved" never took.) This, in any case, was the scene in which Thomas appeared before the Senate. Then Anita Hill, a professor of black law at the University of Oklahoma, who had worked with Thomas, came forward and testified to a pattern of sexual harassment. (Most notably, she said, once she took a can of Coca-Cola and asked, "Who has put pubic hair on my Coke?") This was beyond Borking - this was nuclear. Thomas, who had so little to say for itself suddenly facing a path that no one will want. The national debate that followed, which ended with Thomas on the bench and Hill retired from a media storm, was probably the most heated moment, deeply felt political development until 2000, when the Supreme Court heard Bush v. Gore (in which Judge Thomas voted with the majority)

The first season of additive Netflix Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt demonstrated two things many times: "They are alive, dammit" and "women are strong as hell." The last time we saw Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), who was throwing the book at Reverend Richard Gary Wayne Wayne (Jon Hamm) - figuratively speaking - finally get revenge for herself and other women he kidnapped and held in a bunker for 15 years.

Now the question remains, of course, how the identity of Kimmy will continue to evolve as it moves farther and farther away from his old life as a "woman mole?" You will have to be even sunnier? How is Tito (Tituss Burgess), Lillian (Carol Kane) and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) Factor in the life of Kimmy? Rather, the way Kimmy factor in their lives, because sometimes, it ends up being more of a supporting character in their stories?

With all these important issues raised, let's dive in season 2. Well, actually, I have a more important question: Can we get more songs and plot details warranty, Tony contender Daddy's Boy? Grab yourself a glass of Peeno Noir (which can now be done with the new IRL Tituss Pinot by Tituss Burgess) and we will see.

Season 2, Episode 1: "Kimmy will Decks"

Christmas is in the apartment and, as you can imagine, Kimmy loves Christmas. Why? You put the lights out and bring trees inside. It's crazy! Anyway, Kimmy is happy to celebrate the holiday, such as Tito, planting a big kiss on the man dressed as Santa Claus, who bursts through the door carrying a sack full of what we do not know yet. Kimmy has hanging stockings for herself, Lillian, Tito, Mimi (Amy Sedaris) - passed on the couch - and Murasaki.

"Murasaki does Christmas," says Tito, perhaps the first sign that we are not quite up to speed, because we have no idea who Murasaki. I am sure that we will find this season.

Kimmy next speech about why he likes the party is interrupted by a persistent problem belching, Kemper said in an interview plays a role in this season. (. Yes, belching) She is also interrupted by Jacqueline, who bursts through the door and announced: "The Jews took my painting!" Then, Sonja (Suzan Perry) bursts through the window (Kimmy and Tito 'apartment really seems to lend itself to theft, right?), Kimmy called a ho, and follows with "I will kill You!"

Finally, we have our signal that is open cold takes place in the future, courtesy of the words "three months ago" as well as Tito says, "Three months before this disaster."

Kimmy is on a date with Dong! Except it's not Dong (Ki Hong Lee). It is in a marriage-card Sonja green with your GED class. She is actually on a date with an annoying vegan, fantasizing about Dong. Later, she tells Lillian that the date was terrible, and not just because he could not stop thinking about Dong. Lillian is still hanging in his ex, who happens to be "Bobby Durst," too. You may best know him as Robert Durst, the alleged murderer and the subject of the HBO series The Jinx. He is being played here by Fred Armisen. He was to be the former Lillian. Kimmy and Lillian decide to spend their exes together.

The only problem is that Lillian and Kimmy kept bumping into Dong and Bobby. Kimmy and Dong are buying both a box of poison minnow silver in the store Grim dollar. When it becomes a recurring joke, Dong reveals that his English is improving because he's been seeing a lot of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Everyone keeps realizing that they seem to know much more about the Kardashians that are still conscious.

"I've never seen his show. I just know that Kim is a star butt and married a rapper who hates college. And Kourtney finally ended his destructive relationship with Scott. Meanwhile, Kim return fire at enemies with a autofoto nude pregnancy. wait, how do I know all this? I saw it on the regular, duh, "Kimmy said as she and Dong skating. Apparently, a person who just got out of a bunker noted that information Kardashian is now at the regular press and we all just let it happen is needed.

Kimmy can not manage to spend all this time with Dong, however. He realizes that there are all these gray areas in life and she is the only one not taking advantage of them. She wants to be with Dong, although it is "Midwest" and "believe in the sanctity of marriage" - their marriage is just a sham. Dong also knows can get deported if the INS learns that his is only a marriage of green cards, however.

In the end, Dong is putting the kibosh on his and Kimmy chemistry sizzle. Says he and Kimmy can no longer see each other, so they do not get carried away by the magic of skating and all the minnow of dead silver falling around him in the bathroom of his apartment (only in the insane world of Kimmy Schmidt is this fun). Kimmy is devastated, but she begins to believe in love and a possible reconciliation later in the episode, thanks to Tito.

The last time we saw Tito, Vonda (Pernell Walker), the woman who threw halfway through your wedding - just before they made their carefully choreographed dance - had finally tracked him. He's trying to prevent fleeing again. Kimmy thinks the way through this mess is to talk to Vonda, so it takes to get ice cream, hoping they can convince Vonda make peace with Tito.

Let us all admit that there were certainly some highs and lows during the passion live on Sunday. The acting performances were pretty legit, but it was really crying Jencarlos passion? Certainly it seemed.

Canela is totally dedicated to keep very, very real things during one of the most tense parts of the whole story: As Pontius Pilate, played by Seal, questioned Jesus, cinnamon stood there in his orange jumpsuit, not it is mourn, but almost shed a few tears. It was intense. His voice cracked a little, even when it is recited lines about being called a king. Everything we already knew he could do comedy role in the NBC soap opera, but Canela remained strong, and it seemed that the tears were real. Everyone on Twitter seem to notice, too. For some, it seemed even make your experience.

"Looking at Jesus standing before Pontius Pilate, and people with tears running down her face wrenching .....!" He tweeted a user. That was more or less the feeling of all - although, being Twitter, snark about how true it really Canela behavior also seemed to be doing the rounds. Some simply were not buying it. But can you blame them? Not everyone is so pious, and it is totally unfair to assume Twitter would take the live musical super seriously, since the platform caters to millions of users who identify with very different religions (or at all).

Canela's passion was not entirely surprising, considering that before the live broadcast, which had previously talked about taking the role of Jesus and shared their ideas about religion. Canela told Billboard that he thought the United States needed a dose of a "story like this" at this time. Nor did he believe that everyone needs to be a believer to enjoy this story. In that same interview, he said:

If you are a believer or not, this story is much more than that. It is about love, unity, acceptance, forgiveness, face your fears, and being able to do anything to conquer so you can be the best person you can. I needed to hear that message. I'm not one to preach, but when I saw the trailer, I understood and identified more than ever with this incredible story that is part of the fabric of our lives.
Canela performance on Sunday certainly proved that the passion behind much of what he was reciting on stage (and throughout New Orleans) was legit. Those tears were real. He was hitting fully to the existence of Jesus. That's not an easy thing to do. Being cast as Jesus must have been the most intimidating role to keep in mind always, but kudos to Canela to work the misma.behavior Also Seemed to be doing the rounds. Some simply Were not buying it. But can you blame them? Not everyone is so pious, and it is totally unfair to assume Twitter would take the live musical super-seriously, since the platform caters to millions of users Identify With very different WHO religions (or at all).

Day Parade South Boston St. Patrick - 13:00 - Broadway Station - There was a bit of a kerfuffle on parade route this year - city officials shortened it to disregard the organizers - but still worth visiting if you are on public display general ballyhoo and disturbing public order. Hey, it's tradition.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story stated the wrong date of the parade of St. Patrick's Day. It is Sunday, March 20.
Elise Neal: black, obviously, example is not crack. When the photo above Neal appeared on the Internet Monday (March 14) Internet was left in pieces due to unexpected slayage Ms. Neal gave us.

Memphis, TN., Actress who turns 50 today made the photo for Flasback Friday, but Internet only learned what image and can not stop drooling over how gorgeous (and frankly) attractive Neal looks at your black bikini.

Elise Neal is 50. fifty. And she looks better than about 25 years old that I see here. Slay, ELISE. #HappyBirthday #eliseneal

- BernadetteGiacomazzo (@berngiacomazzo) March 14, 2016

Over the weekend, Neal celebrated his milestone birthday wearing a huge smile along with a flattering white dress. Accompanied by her best friends, Neal even twerked a lil somethin 'to 2 Chainz "Birthday Song."

Neal, a dancer, began her acting career on Broadway and then the transition to film. She worked with Terrence Howard and Taraj P. Henson in 2005 Academy Award winner Hustle & Flow, as well as the 90 affected Scream 2. More recently, Neal worked with Kerry Washington during an episode of scandal.

Happy Birthday Elise! You look good, girl. Forgive us as we run five miles and do 100 sit ups.

Tonight was the end of the ABC reality show The Bachelor, and as the editor of the culture of this website, I thought it was important that someone wrote about the end of The Bachelor. So I'm stepping up.

The only problem? I've never seen The Bachelor. Well, that's not exactly true. I've seen five minutes here or there. I am aware of the basic premise of the series. I've never seen an entire episode, however, and I have not seen a single minute of this season. I will not let that stop me. Here is my blog's live season finale of The Bachelor. Spoilers abound.

We open with BA, whose name is Ben. Apparently, he said he liked both of the two finalists in a previous episode. This has never been done before in the program, highlighted several times. My girlfriend, who is my guide tonight help me make sense of things, tells me that this is "huge".

Ben looks like a cup in the microwave vanilla pudding.

Chris Harrison, who is the host of The Bachelor, tells us that this is the most dramatic finish ever. People in the audience laugh, which seems a very self-conscious for a show like this time.

Will JoJo? Will Lauren B.? Asks Chris Harrison. I ask: This poor girl has to be known by Lauren B.? I have not heard someone known as "Lauren B." from my social studies class seventh grade.

Also: Pastor Ben is here! Apparently we shotgun wedding with this thing. I can not imagine Ben pastor had this covered in the seminar, but I'm glad to see this guy is ready to go with the flow. Get exposure, Pastor Ben.

Well now cut to Ben and JoJo and Lauren B. are in Jamaica. Sandals. Very good plug sandals. He made four K-Ci and Jojo and jokes and my girlfriend has stopped even pretending to smile.

B. Lauren is on the balcony and overlooks nothing. Dramatic music plays. Then JoJo comes out and is on the beach and looks at nothing. The two are in jean shorts. I'm not sure if short jean pants are required or if that's a coincidence. I ask my girlfriend if short jean pants are required or if that is a coincidence and the TV volume is varied and says nothing.

"I always said that fairy tales are real, and this is the first time I've lived that," says JoJo. JoJo, girl, you're 24 years old. You're still on cell phone plan from their parents. Very few people have lived a fairy tale at this point in their lives.

Ben looks like the type of person being perpetually asked to spell a word I had never heard before.

Mark Strong has been acting since the mid-1980s, the authority figures often as expressed deep in dramas such as Dark Zero Thirty - in which there can be recognized him by his wig Movie - imitation game, Syriana , the mole, and the action comedy last year, Kingsman: the secret Service, where Q played the straight-laced character named Merlin.

In The Brothers Grimsby, plays a spy for MI6 and the government hired murderer who met his brother lost a lot of time vulgar, played by Borat creator Sacha Baron Cohen ago.

In his enthusiastic opinion of the film, EW Darren Franich called the film "an-I bottom-up spy comedy ... the best work of Cohen in a decade," and also wrote: "just over 80 minutes, Grimsby fits in a decadent trip to London and scrubby Grimsby, Africa and South America. It has one of the nastiest individual sequences in film history. "
That's a reference to a scene in which Cohen Strong and seek refuge inside a female elephant. (Cohen published part of the scene on his Facebook page, which you can see below.) It may seem paradoxical that Strong, possibly experienced the greatest success of his career very recently with her two-year effort stage in Arthur Miller's a view from the bridge, you are receiving its greater exposure to a farce rise spy tone. But we started our recent conversations talking not about the differences between intellectual drama and comedy below the belt, but the similarities.

Entertainment Weekly: Only recently finished this race as Eddie Carbone, the tragic hero of Panorama from the bridge, in a surprising, challenging stage production of Arthur Miller play. I was filming The Brothers Grimsby as they appear in the game?

Mark Strong: Funny enough, I ran my hand. I finished the race in London Young Vic Panorama from the bridge and the next day I started filming in Grimsby. And then, when we run in London's West End, the reshoots approached. And now literally just I finished the game last weekend in New York and here is the premiere Grimsby.
Is there any way you can compare these two projects?

Well, it seems crazy that the game very seriously and Arthur Miller scholar has run hand in hand with this, anarchic film crazy. But I think there is something, some kind of connection between Miller and Sacha. It is that both are scratching away at the veneer of civilization. Miller is interested in the idea that beneath the surface, everything that is not quite right. Sacha is the same in his comedy. distance scratches to the sensitivities of people. To see how far you can take things to push your buttons.

Are you attracted to that?

Yes. I mean, I'm fascinated by the stories Sacha told me. He said there were plenty of times when security or bodyguard would stand around. And then something dangerous would happen and would turn around to see her security literally running out the door. I think at that rodeo, for example, Borat, which was in danger of death. And the same when he ran naked through the group of people at the end of that movie. I think jumped into a van and were beating the sides of the truck. Yes, he does not put in very dangerous situations.

Actually, it has never done this sort of bawdy comedy. Who thought his co-star opposite him?

Well, first, they were looking for someone who credibly could be your brother. Sacha is a tall, that is dark. And that kind of made of such invoice. And I think someone was watching television and hear my voice, actually. And [Grimsby producer] Erik Felner that I know, then gave me a ring and asked if he would be interested. And then I came into the improvisation with Sacha. And it all happened very fast. They sent me three scenes. But only he threw improvised. They shot something in a handheld camera in the room, quickly edited together and decided it was the boy.
