When David Treglown finished his career in college football at North Central College, a Division III school in Illinois, I knew there would be a void in his life.
The Barron Collier graduate 2005 was a highlight of three sports in high school who enjoyed the part of athletic training, as well as games. Above all, he liked being on a team.
"Everything related to the formation of the group atmosphere attracted me," Treglown said. "I loved the camaraderie, the feeling community you have to be part of a team. Things that go through together. The ties that are created. I had in high school and college, be able to set goals as a team and devote same throughout the year to achieve these goals. "
Treglown, 29, has rediscovered that sense of team as the head coach at Real Fitness, a CrossFit gym located at 2650 Immokalee Road at Sam Club Plaza.
CrossFit is an exercise program well structured mix of aerobics, calisthenics and Olympic weightlifting. CrossFit workouts consist of constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.
On Friday, the actual fitness is having the first day of qualifying for CrossFit Open, a competition five weeks that serves as the first stage of the season CrossFit Games. The Games are July 19 to 24 in Carson, California. As is the case throughout the competition, competitors do not know what the training until a video released last night, which means that no one will have an unfair advantage in preparation.
Friday's event - which consists of two exercises one hour from 17:00 - in the gym also marks the first major event under the new gym owner Alex Lefcakis, a former member of the gym who bought the gym two weeks ago.
"CrossFit really garners the community aspect of the gym," Lefcakis said. "Everyone in a CrossFit gym know each other. They hang out with others outside the gym. It's not like most gyms. It's a very cold environment to be a part of."
Treglown said CrossFit newcomers are greeted by members of a lifetime, and that CrossFit certified trainers are always in the gym to conduct training.
"Usually in a CrossFit gym, you see people next to you who are doing things they never thought they were when they started possible," Treglown said. "Being able to achieve these things together, a closer bond with his fellow gym on a much deeper level than other experiences I've had. I always felt like an outsider when I went to a regular fitness is created. In gymnasiums CrossFit, you are always welcome. it is a real sense of belonging that I have not had since I played football. "
