Toshiba Corporation announced the launch of a new line of SSDs Toshiba SG5, which stands to make use of memory chips TLC NAND Flash manufacturing process to 15 nanometers.

The SG5 series is the first SSD SATA Toshiba customer support 1,024GB capacity M.2 form factor and is designed for commercial laptops and desktop PCs, updates to the consumer and high-end portable applications.

The units achieve a high performance and large storage capacity, maintaining a small form factor and lowers costs for consumers.

Available in M.2 form factor 2.5-inch, the series SG5 features a SATA connection that supports speeds of 6.0 Gbit / s and is available in capacities of 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1,024GB.

QSBC technology using error correction code, patented by Toshiba (Quadruple Swing-By Code), a code error correction high efficiency (ECC), the SG5 series is optimized to protect customer data corruption , improving reliability, and provide long service life.

"The SG5 series gives our customers the flexibility of system configuration with a choice of different capacities and form factors," said Martin Larsson, Vice President of Toshiba Electronics Europe for the division of storage products.

"We leverage our expertise to present NAND toe TLC NAND technology to optimize SSD performance in a small form factor, while giving our customers the opportunity to strengthen the integrity of the data with the data protection features such as QSBC Toshiba and cleaning technologies, "he added in a statement.

Samples of the SG5 series Toshiba SSDs will be available in the first quarter of 2016.
