Lights, camera, the most important night of the year Hollywood action finally here!
The 88th Annual Academy are underway and the host of the night, Chris Rock, has not even stepped on the stage yet.
Today's festivities are held at the Dolby Theatre, like the previous years, and several players have been named winners before the telecast, even the air.
Spike Lee, Gena Rowlands and Debbie Reynolds were all paid tribute and were given their Oscar statues at the 7th Annual of Governors on November 17, 2015.

At that time, the president of the Academy Cheryl Boone Isaacs issued the following statement in honor of the three stars.
"The Board is proud to recognize the outstanding contributions to our honorees in Govenors awards this year."
Isaacs added that the Academy "celebrating their accomplishments with the knowledge that the work they have done with passion, dedication and desire to make a positive difference, will also enrich future generations." And they will!
