Mardi Growl fun filled the streets for a cause

Hundreds of pet owners Knoxville filled the streets of downtown on Saturday for what is called the "best" Mardi Growl never parade.

Young Williams Animal Center hosts this event each year. It is the largest fundraiser center. In 2015, the event raised $ 50,000. So far in 2016, the center has already raised $ 61,000 and that number does not include the hundreds of people who registered on Saturday.

"We as a nonprofit organization rely heavily on donations. Every dollar you get is spent wisely," said CEO Jeff Williams Ashin young.

Ashin, who appreciates the good and generous donations of participation, not surprised by this show of support.

"This shows that Knoxville is a pet friendly city," Ashin said.
