Question: How many new models of Apple iPhone disclaims every year? What used to be one, then two, when Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Well, now in 2016 it will be four ...

Seeks to consolidate its reputation as "the best Apple analyst on the planet," KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo is at it again. In a research note obtained by MacRumors Kuo it has reaffirmed that Apple will indeed release three models of the iPhone 7 this year, plus 4 inches imminent 'iPhone'.

Consequently, the three iPhone 7 models are the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus and a new and even more premium model around (and huge) Plus some are dubbing the 'iPhone Pro 7 '. What is the difference between the Pro (I'll go with the name for now) and the Plus? An innovative camera.

in fact, I should say innovative 'chambers' because Kuo said the iPhone 7 Pro system will use a dual-lens camera created by LinX, a specialist in images Apple bought in 2015.

My fellow Forbes contributor Paul Monckton already broken the LinX technology in detail, but the short version is that promises great steps forward in light shooting and low speed, and the ability to incorporate a 2-3x optical zoom. The latter is potentially an important differentiator for Apple given the opportunity to build on the success of its 'Shot on iPhone' marketing campaign.

Kuo says that the dual lens technology LinX also allows the camera module is very thin so the iPhone 7 Pro can eliminate the infamous bulging camera range.
But why Apple into account the fragmentation of its range iPhone just to get a better camera in a third model of iPhone 7? Why not give 7 iPhone models with technology or whether to divide, they offer it in the Plus and not the standard iPhone 7? After all there is a precedent there. The iPhone 6 and 6S and lag behind the iPhone 6 / 6S Plus cameras because of its lack of optical image stabilization (OIS).

Kuo says the reason for the third model simply boils down to supply constraints. Apple can not produce camera modules Linx in sufficient quantity so will create a third smartphone just to get the technology to market in more limited quantities.

Some may think that a third super premium iPhone 7 is a great idea that allows Apple to take advantage of, but I personally believe that fragmentation of the iPhone line is a bad idea and something that Apple should avoid at all costs. With the iPhone, iPhone 7, 7 iPhone Plus (and potentially ongoing sales of the iPhone 5S) there is enough variety and iPhone 7 Pro would only serve to confuse customers.
