Today is a day to celebrate

Someone's work, but it has gone very well.

Come on, do not be obtuse,

Let's all give thanks to Dr. Seuss.

His name was Theodor Seuss Geisel

And all the kids who think it's swell.

Born March 2, 1904

His family, which produces beer and more.

In high school I was doing art

His cartoon style sets it apart.

Soon our Ted was a graduate of Dartmouth

He paid the rent by developing ad

For Standard Oil and NBC,

But the greatest fame came later, you see.

The tickled babies, took a glance

When Ted, turned to books for children.

"The Cat in the Hat" and "Hop on Pop"

Once he started, he could not stop.

"Yertle the Turtle", "The Lorax" too

A red fish, blue fish.

Our favorite lines they liked to quote

"Can you, you with a goat?"

Sneetches, Horton, Gerald McGrew

Thing One and Thing not forget Two.

Or, of course, the Griggolupp

As the Seuss himself did that.

Ted faithful readers not fazed

When the mean old Grinch met.

Green stole poor Whoville Yule

His spirit made him feel a fool.

The version of the film was not so cheerful

Although Jim Carrey grin.

And at the risk of being contrary

Mike Myers' "cat" was truly frightening.

It is not fault Ted were not so funny

Because he died in '91.

So let's pour a glass of milk or juice

And raise a toast to Dr. Seuss.

His books, sitting on our shelves.

Today, it would be 112!
